School History

To perpetuate the memory of Shams-ul-Ulema Sardar Khan Bahadur Dr. Hoshang Jamasp Dastur, M.A., Ph.D., C.I.E., a great scholar, the Sardar Dastur Hoshang Boys’ High School was inaugurated on the 8th Jjanuary 1912 to meet the Educational needs of the Zoroastrians in and around Pune.  From a humble beginning, the School soon grew into an Institution spreading its availability as an English Medium School for boys belonging to every social class, community and linguistic group.

 The School, is a grant-in-aid & recognized by the Government of Maharashtra, prepares pupils for the Secondary School Certificate Examination (Std. X).  It is owned by the Sardar Dastur Schools Trust and  managed by the Trustees and Board of Management which belong to the Minority group and enjoys the rights and privileges guaranteed article 30(1) of the Constitute of India.

 This is the second School in the group of Sardar Dastur Schools, the first being the Sardar Dastur Nosherwan Girls’ High School (founded on 1st February 1893) and the third being the Bai Najamai Noshirwan Dastur Primary and Nursery Schools inaugurated on 1st June 1953, on the separation of the Primary Section from the High School.  The next is the Co-Education School, founded on 24th February 1998 named Sardar Dastur Hormazdiar High School.  The latest addition is the Sardar Dastur Junior College.
